The Business Broker King

About the Business Broker King

Michael Steinberg grew up in a blue-collar neighborhood in Wantagh, New York. At 16 he was working the counter at a Melville pizzeria for $6 an hour, and one summer, watching customers pull up in Bentleys and Porsches, he decided he wanted more out of life.

He went on to manage Empire Pizza Management, a hospitality development company that ran operations for absentee business owners. A regular customer he knew only by sight agreed to mentor him in the intricacies of business brokerage, and Michael moved from a real estate license into business brokering.

He founded HedgeStone Business Advisors and built it from handwritten drop notes into a nationwide firm, using organic Instagram and TikTok content to bring in 50 to 100 business owners who want to sell every week. One cold call, backed by a single piece of research, led him to broker an $85 million hotel deal.

Today HedgeStone counts 400+ advisors, 1,000+ exclusive listings and a network of over a million buyers. Michael's signature mechanism is seller financing, which lets a buyer take over a business with little money down, and his track record earned him the title he is known by: the Business Broker King.

Tony Robbins didn't come from wealth. Food was scarce when he was a child, and one Thanksgiving a man knocked on the door with bags of groceries, an anonymous gift from someone who knew the family was struggling. His father saw failure in the gesture. Tony saw that strangers care, and decided that if strangers could care, he could too.

That day became the catalyst for his work as a practical psychologist. He grew obsessed with learning what causes one person to thrive and another to remain stuck, gathered knowledge about success from the world's best, and set out to help people become the best version of themselves, no matter their circumstances.

Nearly five decades later, his books, audio and video training, and live events have served more than 100 million people from 195 countries. He still leads live events for more than 30,000 people at a time, 14 hours a day, guided by one principle: the secret to living is giving.

He is a #1 New York Times bestselling author and the nation's #1 Life and Business Strategist. Fortune's cover article named him the 'CEO Whisperer,' Harvard Business Press honored him as one of the 'Top 200 Business Gurus,' and American Express named him one of the 'Top Six Business Leaders in the World' to coach its entrepreneurial clients. He is chairman of a holding company comprising more than 120 privately held businesses.

The same drive to give back powers his work to fight global hunger, provide grants to health and human services organizations, and bring life-changing curriculum to correctional facilities around the country.

Richard A. Baker is the owner of National Realty & Development Corp. (NRDC), one of the largest private real estate development and investment companies in the United States, and a founding partner of NRDC Equity Partners alongside his son, Jack Baker. His career rests on one proven strategy: acquire premier retail companies and unlock value through the real estate underneath them.

He joined NRDC, the company his father Robert C. Baker founded, after graduating from Cornell. In 2006 he bought Lord & Taylor, then America's longest continually operating department store, for $1.2 billion. In 2008 he led NRDC's purchase of Hudson's Bay Company, North America's oldest company, and in 2011 he sold the stores of the Canadian chain Zellers to Target for US$1.8 billion.

In 2013 he led the $2.9 billion acquisition of Saks Fifth Avenue, financing the deal against the Fifth Avenue building, which was valued at the time at more than the purchase price of the entire company. In 2015 he led the acquisition of Galeria Kaufhof, Germany's largest department store chain. He also chaired Retail Opportunity Investments Corporation, a NASDAQ-listed REIT that Blackstone Real Estate acquired for $4 billion in 2025.

A 1988 Cornell graduate with a B.S. in Hotel Management, he is a Visiting Professor of the Practice at the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business, and with his wife, Lisa, he endowed the Baker Program in Real Estate at Cornell. The couple are dedicated philanthropists and mental health advocates, and he has directed more than $100 million through charitable foundations to organizations throughout North America.

Through Baker House, a private club and think tank for entrepreneurs on Cornell University's campus in Ithaca, he now passes on what forty years and more than 100 million square feet of real estate taught him: deal sourcing, capital structure, operations and the human side of entrepreneurship, for people who weren't born into the business.

Founder, SubTo

Pace Morby

Pace Morby is an author, an investor, the founder of SubTo and co-host of A&E's Triple Digit Flip. Through creative financing he has acquired over $450 million in real estate assets without cash, credit or previous credentials of his own. He is also the author of Wealth Without Cash.

He started as a general contractor and now owns more than 20 active businesses. His focus is subject-to and seller financing, which he uses to acquire properties without the use of banks.

Using dozens of non-traditional strategies known as Creative Finance, he has acquired thousands of doors nationwide. Each week he teaches tens of thousands of students in his online communities how to get started in real estate with Subject To, Seller Finance and the Gator Method.

He built that community because, early on, no one in the forums he joined would help him. His answer was a collaborative, action-taking real estate community where everyone wants to help everyone win, built on a mission to show people they can reach the finish line from any starting point.

Vic Keller started his career underwriting businesses at JPMorgan. After seeing thousands of companies, he concluded that most businesses do not fail because of bad ideas; they fail because they were never built to hold up under growth. He left to build companies himself.

He has since founded 17 companies and exited nine, three of them to Berkshire Hathaway. He founded the ZAK Automotive Companies, which Berkshire Hathaway acquired in 2015, and afterward held executive responsibilities at Berkshire Hathaway Automotive.

His companies have ranged from automotive chemicals and consumer products to technology platforms and veterinary supply, and he has operated through rapid growth, margin compression, leadership transitions, capital structuring, acquisitions and complex exits.

Today he runs Experience Ventures, an operator-led M&A advisory firm built on one principle: founders deserve advisors who have actually built and exited companies themselves. He also founded KLV Capital, and he leads EPIC Boardroom, a private community for entrepreneurs, along with private mentorship and founder retreats.

Josh Aryeh

Michael Steinberg and Josh Aryeh, founder of Smiles Through Cars, will honor a child who faces medical and personal challenges, live on stage.

Josh Aryeh is the founder of Smiles Through Cars, and on its visits he is Batman. Since 2008 the charity and its growing team of superheroes have been on a mission to change the world, one smile at a time.

It began with one ride. A car enthusiast himself, Josh borrowed a family member's sports car to make a young girl battling cancer smile, and Smiles Through Cars was born.

Since then, Josh and his team have visited hospitals across the country in exotic cars, giving sick and underprivileged children a reason to smile during some of the hardest moments of their lives.
